Top issues during term (7)(Education)
Lincoln Elementary School Repurposing and Student Transportation
The Safe Routes to School Fund would direct city money to crossing guards and safety infrastructure; speed cameras could also generate revenue from violators.
Franklin School property acquisition
$300,000 purchase price, with possible playground improvement funding in the 2027 or 2028 budget.
school closure
Property values and neighborhood business traffic could take a hit as families move away from the shuttered school zone.
school facility conversion
While exact numbers aren't out yet, repurposing a school usually means spending money on renovations that could hit taxpayers.
school district consolidation
Consolidating buildings could save the district money on overhead, but expect some unexpected costs for redistricting and facility updates.
Lakewood City School District Tax Levy Endorsement (Issue 2)
Will cost approximately $725 per year for a $300,000 home if approved by voters.
